Gills chairman Paul Scally has been urged not to cash in on Bradley Dack.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder took his goal tally to 14 with the winner against Peterborough on Saturday.

Dack underlined his value to the Gills with another man-of-the-match display but it’s whether his valuation is met by Premier League big boys that will worry most Gillingham fans ahead of the January transfer window closing next Monday.

“He is the best player in this league, without a shadow of doubt,” claimed Gills assistant manager David Kerslake. “His stats will show that but the one thing that we have with him is that he is a fantastic boy to have in the dressing room.

“He will make as many tackles as anyone, will cover as much grass as anyone, he is a proper team player.

“He thinks about his game. He’ll have something to say in team meetings. He tries to lead by example on the pitch, he is invaluable to us.”

Gills have already rejected three offers from Bristol City, with manager Justin Edinburgh laughing off an offer of just £1million.

Kerslake admitted that it would not make sense for the Gills to cash in on their star asset as they enter the business end of the season.

“I know the manager values him very highly and we’ll do everything we can that he stays with us,” he added.
