The search for investment in Gillingham Football Club is going stateside.
Gills chairman Paul Scally is continuing his global search for funding.
He’s hoping that his latest planned trip, to New York and Atlanta, will finally end his search for a partner to finance a new stadium.
Mr Scally said: “It is about getting the right funding partner, not about just getting anyone.
“I have had a number of proposals that have not really been acceptable for the club and not in the best interest of the club going forward.”
Hopes of a new stadium appear to hinge on finding a financier but that search has so far been unfruitful.
Mr Scally said: “I am not being picky. I am just protecting the football club and its long-term future but I am talking to some very significant and credible partners.
"I am in America next week for two very big meetings and it could well be this summer that I have some really good news.
“(People) ask why I haven’t delivered but it is not an easy business raising the funds to build a stadium with enabling development.
"There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, on a number of initiatives around the club.”
