Front-man Josh Parker believes Gillingham are a team nobody in League 1 wants to face.

The Gills are seven unbeaten in the league, beating high-flying Charlton and Scunthorpe in recent weeks on the road.

“We are a horrible team to play against,” Parker said.

“We are relentless, like dogs, hunting for 90 minutes.

“I don’t think there is a better team in the league, there might be a team with better overall players than us, teams with bigger budgets, but there isn’t a team that scares me or makes me think ‘I don’t want to play them this week’ but they’ll think that about us.

“I think every team in the league thinks that about us.

“It is impossible for teams in our division not to take notice, at one point we were second from bottom, now we are climbing up the table.”

Gillingham have won their last three but Parker’s not counting.

“It’s three in a row but we’re not talking about that,” said the 27-year-old.

“That’s because it is no surprise. I didn’t know it was three wins in a row (until told). I just thought we were playing well.

“All I remember is that we haven’t lost many since the gaffer took over. For me, when we win, it is normal.”

Parker took his goal tally to 10 last weekend, restoring Gills’ lead against Scunthorpe with a well-taken header.

“I have had enough chances for it to come sooner,” said the forward.

“But at least it has come now and I can move onto my next goal. It is good but I am not complacent."
