Ebbsfleet United have signed Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell.

The frontman has struggled to win a regular place in the Gills team this season and has decided to join the Vanarama Conference South promotion chasers.

He joins Fleet on an 18-month contract, with an option to extend by a further 12 months.

but was often frustrated this season at his lack of action. He hasn’t scored in the league for the Gills since August.

Ambitious

- a friend of Kedwell’s - from Welling, where the duo played together, and he was delighted with the capture.

“It’s a massive signing for the club,” Day told Fleet’s official website. “I’ve known Keds a long time and I still regard him as a League One player.

“We’ve sold him what the club’s about and where we want to be. He’ll hopefully bring real experience and game knowledge to the squad.”

Kedwell - a Gills supporter - signed for the club in 2011 after helping AFC Wimbledon into the Football League. He leaves the Gills after making 136 appearances for the club, scoring 45 goals.

When he played in Conference South for Welling he scored 49 goals in two seasons between 2005 and 2007. Day and Kedwell both departed for Grays in the summer of 2007 with the latter then moving to AFC Wimbledon a year later.

Kedwell has previously played for a number of non-league teams in the county, including Maidstone, Chatham, Lordswood and Herne Bay.
