Sean Dickson's heroics show value of club game, says Lordswood's Amjad Khan

Sean Dickson’s extraordinary triple century for Kent was made in Lordswood.
Dickson, after four ducks in his last nine county innings, played his way back into form with 127 from 130 balls as Lords beat Tunbridge Wells in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division last Saturday.
It was his first Lords appearance of the season and he followed that by hitting 318 in Kent’s County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Beckenham.
Lordswood captain Amjad Khan said: “What was really interesting about Saturday is that the week before he’d played against Notts and was facing some of the quickest bowlers in the world, yet he came here and showed club bowlers amazing respect.
“He was leaving the ball well, he gave himself a chance to stay in and the hundred was one of the best I’ve ever seen at club level.
“He’s taken that form back to Kent and scored a million runs!
“It’s something I always encourage. I’m not saying Lordswood are the reason Dicko got 300 but it’s so important to play club cricket, show it respect and get some practice in a different environment where you feel loved, and then you take that with you the next time you play at a higher level.
“He’s a humble, hardworking guy and all credit to him.
“I texted him when he was on 200 overnight saying he needed to play more for us! It depends how Kent use him but there might be a window.
“We’re honoured to have him play for us and he knows that. I doubt we’ll see him this weekend though – I think he should put his feet up!”
