Charlie Lee is looking forward to doing battle with his former team-mates.

Lee scored his first goal for Stevenage in a 3-2 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

The former Gills midfielder could now be involved again on Tuesday when his old club visit Stevenage for the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

“I will have a laugh and a joke on the pitch with them but I am not going to be taking it easy on them,” he told the Stevenage club website.

“If there is a 50-50 then I am going to do everything I can to win it. It is easier to kick your mates isn’t it?”

Lee left in the summer after spending the last three seasons with the Gills. He joined former team-mate Chris Whelpdale at the Lamex Stadium.

“We had a terrific promotion a couple of years ago and we didn’t capitalise on that last year when I was there,” he said, after reflecting on his time at Gills.

“There are some good players there but if we do the right things then we can beat them.”
