Lordswood have been in talks with two strikers ahead of their trip to Glebe this Saturday.

Manager Richard Dimmock has spent the last few weeks trying to land a new frontman and hopes to have at least one signed before the weekend. He’ll also have newly-signed winger Kameiko Pope-Campbell available.

Pope-Campbell missed last Saturday’s FA Cup match against Harefield United, which Lordswood lost 3-2. Dimmock felt they had more than enough chances to have won the tie comfortably.

He said: “We dominated from start to finish but, from their four chances, they scored three goals.

"We had 20-odd, stuck two in, hit the post twice, had five or six occasions when the ball was cleared off their line from set-plays. It was very frustrating.”

Even at 2-0 down, Dimmock felt they could have won.

“I wasn’t panicking then,” he said.

“We were still creating chances. We should have been 2-0 up after 10 minutes and had we got them then I think we go on and win that game comfortably.”

Missing that finishing touch is something Dimmock hopes they can now rectify, with striker talks going on.

“It has taken a bit of time but strikers want top dollar,” said the manager.

“They are like gold dust. If the opportunity is there to get both, then I can’t see why not.

"I am hoping to get one done, if not both, before Saturday.”

Pope-Campbell has joined from Erith & Belvedere after not getting the game time he wanted there and is someone Dimmock has been chasing for a couple of seasons. Prior to the weekend, Lords also added full-back Dennis Agbudume to the squad and he started in the FA Cup match.

“He was phenomenal on Saturday,” said the manager.

Glebe are managed by former Gillingham player Luke Rooney. He was on the scoresheet a fortnight ago in the SCEFL Premier Division opening weekend but his side were beaten 3-1 at Deal.

“I am expecting that to be another tough game,” added the Lords boss.
