Gillingham boss Steve Lovell wants to make most of feel-good factor against Tottenham under-21s

Gillingham will be looking to maintain their momentum when they take on Tottenham’s under-21s on Tuesday.
The Gills beat League 1 leaders Portsmouth at the weekend and are now looking for a win in the Checkatrade Trophy.
“It would be nice to get a result again,” said Gills boss Steve Lovell.
“I will put out a strong team. It is important to keep momentum going and a lot of the boys who were out there (at Portsmouth) will play on Tuesday.”
The Gills lost their opening Trophy game against Portsmouth 4-0 and they now tackle a young Spurs team, heading to The Valley for the fixture while work continues on the new pitch installation at Priestfield.
A small crowd is expected at Charlton, but that won’t concern the team.
Lovell said: “They are great lads, they are professionals and whether we are playing in an empty stadium or a full one, the players will give everything they can.
“It will be different, going to The Valley and playing, but it is one we will take very seriously.”
Lovell is still likely to change his team around, resting some of his more experienced players.
“There will be a few knocks flying about, especially with the older boys, the older ones might have a rest, but the rest of them will play and I had enough on the bench (at Portsmouth) to put out a very good side.
“Josh Parker and Bradley Garmston didn’t play and they have been very good. It is a chance for them to have a game again and take the places of perhaps Barry (Fuller) and Gabs (Zakuani), who might need a rest ready for next Saturday.”
Spurs loanee Connor Ogilvie is unable to play against his parent team but striker Conor Wilkinson may hope to get a look-in, after being left back at home for the trip to Portsmouth. Midfield pair Regan Charles-Cook and Billy Bingham remain sidelined and are still doubtful for next weekend.
Gillingham’s new pitch is set to be laid early this week, in time to play on it against Southend next Saturday, having spent the last fortnight doing the groundworks.
