Gillingham boss Steve Lovell will pick strong side for Kent Senior Cup tie against Maidstone

08:30, 15 January 2018

Gillingham’s team to face Maidstone in Tuesday's Kent Senior Cup quarter-final won’t be short of experience.

Boss Steve Lovell isn’t playing his first 11 at the Gallagher Stadium but looks set to name a team with plenty of quality.

The likes of Ben Nugent, Alex Lacey, Stuart Nelson, Connor Ogilvie and Conor Wilkinson could all feature in the quarter-final tie. It will be an opportunity for Lovell to hand some of his players competitive minutes.

“I am not going to put my full 11 out,” Lovell confirmed. “But there will be certain ones who will play and get some good minutes, against a good team.

"It will be a good night, it is a bit of a rivalry, one we want to win as they will, it will be one to look forward to but we will see how everyone is on Monday, pick a team and work on it ready for Tuesday.

“There will be boys there who have played League 1 football. There will be a good side going out there, whatever happens, whatever team will be good and will give Maidstone a good game. It should be a good battle.”

The game kicks off at 7.45pm and tickets are on general sale, priced at £10 for adults, £5 concessions and free for under-11s going with a full-paying adult. Tickets will not be available on the night.
