Former Southend United defender Luke O'Neill has performed consistently well for Gillingham this year

Luke O’Neill would be one of manager Steve Lovell’s picks for Gillingham player-of-the-year.
Lovell has been impressed with O’Neill’s form on the right side of defence, impressing again in the weekend game at Portsmouth.
He said: “I thought the two full-backs Luke and Callum (Reilly) were excellent for us on Saturday and looked to put some great balls in.
“He (O’Neill) gets up and down and he is a good player. He has been one of our most consistent players this year and when we allow him to get forward that is his strength.
“Defensively he is decent and he is good in the air but again he works hard and his attitude is great. He is a great player to have around.
“He has had a really good season and I just want him to finish off the next 10 games and continue at it because he would be one of my players of the season.”
