Boss Justin Edinburgh was thrilled to see his men bounce back with a win.
The Gills climbed back up to second in League One with a 3-0 win over Millwall on Saturday.
Edinburgh, whose side lost 3-0 at home to Burton last week, said: “There was plenty of incident in the game but we are delighted to have come out on top.
“We worked on a few things in the last few days and credit to the players, the game plan was played out very well.
“There was a lot of disappointment last week in terms of the result. We were disappointed to have lost our home record and I felt it was a little flat, but credit to the players and the fans that travelled in numbers. We really went about it from the first whistle and I am absolutely delighted.”
Millwall came back at the Gills in the second half but they had a 2-0 lead by then.
“We knew that could happen,” said Edinburgh.
“There was no caution from Millwall, they went the same way in a 4-3-2 (like Gills did against Burton last week). They kept two players up front and it certainly caused us problems.
“I know both of their full-backs were bombing on and they left two at the back.
"A couple of times we may have pulled a better pass and got that third goal a little quicker than we did. They threw a lot of balls into the box but more often than not we dealt with them well.”
