Gillingham have received a blow with news that Aaron Morris will be sidelined for at least a month.

The versatile Welshman limped off after 65 minutes during the game against Scunthorpe United.

“It is a hamstring injury so he is going to be out for a month or so,” Gills boss Peter Taylor confirmed.

Summer signing Morris has started 10 league games for Gillingham, recently reverting from his position in midfield to right-back.

Taylor said: “He has performed very well, he can perform in a couple of positions and to me, the left winger (on Saturday) wasn’t causing him great problems on Saturday and he played as we know he can.

“I am so disappointed with the injury because I didn’t play him on the Tuesday (in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy), I rested him and he got the injury.

“It is a bit of a blow but we have to get on with it.”

Gavin Hoyte is expected to replace him ay right-back, although Taylor has been impressed by some of those who haven’t recently been involved.

He said: “There have been people like Matt Fish and Leon Legge, who have been out of the picture, who are grafting to get back in the picture. That’s all I can ask of them.”
