Liam Nash will have to sit and watch the FA Cup action this weekend.

The Gills striker is currently on loan at Leatherhead, where he has scored five goals in five games, but boss Steve Lovell doesn’t want him cup-tied.

Gillingham will be hoping to see off Carlisle this weekend and win a place in the third round.

And Lovell hopes if Nash continues his good form at the Bostik Premier side then he could come back and be involved in the competition with the Gills.

He said: “I don’t want him to be involved in the FA Cup (for Leatherhead) and I told them that.

“If we get through to the third round, and he comes back here after doing well for them, then it’s not fair on him if he can’t play for us because he’s cup-tied.

“He will have worked hard to get into that position but he couldn’t be able to play.

“I am sure they would do the same in my position so it’s the fairest thing to do for the club and Nashy.”

Leatherhead beat non-league moneybags Billericay in the last round and are rewarded with a game away to League 2 Wycombe, this Sunday.
