If you think you know Neil Smith you might want to listen to our latest podcast first.
The man known by most as 'Smudge' was signed by Terry Venables and started his career cleaning Gary Lineker's boots at Tottenham.
He helped keep Gillingham in the Football League and describes how Paul Scally and Tony Pulis turned the club around.
Smith was at Fulham when Mohamed Al-Fayed bought the club and brought in Kevin Keegan as manager, with the likes of Michael Jackson and Hugh Grant coming to games.
The crash of ITV Digital scuppered a return to Gills later in his career and forced Smith to drop into non-league with Woking.
He was part of another great escape at Kingfield and enjoyed his happiest times with the Cards before moving into management.
There were tough times at Welling and scandal at Croydon Athletic but Smith is now building something special at Bromley as he explained during our hour sat in the bar at Hayes Lane.
