Goalkeeper Tom Hadler has signed a new contract at Gillingham.
Hadler, who made his League 1 debut against Blackpool at the end of last season, offers competition to Tomas Holy after agreeing a one-year deal.
Gills boss Steve Lovell is backing the 21-year-old to challenge Holy for the shirt.
Lovell said: "I think he's got a good chance this year.
"He'll be fighting Tomas Holy all the way, especially in pre-season when everyone starts even.
"He's come on very well, we really believe in him and I think it's a massive year for him.
"Hopefully he'll push Tomas all the way and that's what we're hoping for, to have competition.
"We want competition all over the park to make sure there are challenges for everybody to get into that team."
