Peter Taylor believes the signing of Brennan Dickenson will give Gillingham more of a fighting chance next season.

The Gills boss highlighted a lack of pace in the side last term and has done something about it.

The left-sided winger, 20, became Gills’ sixth signing of the summer after arriving on a two-year deal from Brighton for an undisclosed fee.

Taylor, who has already signed lively winger Jermaine McGlashan, said: “Brennan is young, raw and has got some good talent.

“If he takes everything on board and comes here with the right attitude, which he will do, then he could be decent for us.

“He is a powerful runner, that’s how I see him. To me, he is someone who could push the ball past someone and they would never catch him.

“He is left-footed and, when speaking to people who know him well, he has a shot that is as powerful as you will see. We are pleased with him."

Dickenson said: “It feels really good to have signed. I’ve got pace, I’m good in the air, will put in plenty of crosses and hope I can please the fans.”
