Luke Norris turned in his best performance yet on Monday, according to first team coach Steve Lovell.

Norris was only denied a goal by some heroic goalkeeping from Leyton Orient keeper Alex Cisak.

The striker was making his fourth start in a row for Gillingham in the 3-3 draw at Orient.

Lovell said: “Luke played very well and linked up well with Cody.

“Perhaps he hasn’t had the best of starts for us before, prior to this game, but I thought it was his best game for us and it shows what he can do.

“If he had scored it would have topped a very good performance from him.”

Norris may not have got on the scoresheet but he provided the cross for Jermaine
McGlashan’s goal and he was fouled in the area, leading to McDonald scoring from the spot.

Lovell said: “We know strikers are judged on scoring goals but he had a big say in how he helped Cody get his goals and for Glash.

“Strikers are there to score but you have to assist as well, that is just as important, but hopefully he will come on and get another chance and keep what he did there going and get the goals that he deserves.

“He worked hard. He has got himself into some really good positions and he created chances for himself rather than relying on people creating for him.

“He has made some good chances out of nothing. The goalkeeper made some good saves but I thought Luke did very well and hopefully there is more of that to come.”
