After a win by just three points when the sides met in November, Medway this time put Reeds Weybridge to the sword 47-10 in Regional 2 South East.
With Reeds fourth and Medway sixth there was another reason to anticipate a close contest at Priestfields, but the visitors hardly made it out of their half in the opening 15 minutes.
Max Bullock missed two chances to open Medway’s account, but a penalty from fly-half Owen Church-Mills did break the deadlock before he doubled the home side’s lead.
It was 11-0 when Bullock made it third time lucky and another three points from the tee gave Medway a 14-point cushion.
The visitors then enjoyed a 10-minute spell of possession - but could only muster one penalty - before impressive interplay between scrum-half Sean Marriott, full-back Jack Johnson and winger Conor Chalmers set up captain Antony Clement to go over. Church-Mills’ extras meant Medway changed ends 18 points ahead.
There were yellow cards for both sides as the second half saw an increase in tempo, but Medway’s tight forwards Ryan Eastley, Jack Nickalls and Deji Oyesola dominated their opponents, allowing hooker Josh Knight to make a break and send player-of-the-match Church-Mills into the corner for a 26-3 lead.
The next score went against the run of play, Reeds running the length of the pitch with multiple offloads, and more yellow cards were shown ahead of another Bullock try. Church-Mills’ conversion made it 33-10 and a bad day got worse for the Surrey side when tempers flared and a red card left them a man short for the remainder of the afternoon.
Johnson touched down in the corner and then Mac Perry - after fine play by Jordan Stubbington, Dan Jackson, Ben Dance and Harry Gibbons - made the most of the numerical advantage.
Medway, now fourth, are back in league action on March 2 at Beckenham.
