Brad Potter has left Chatham Town to sign for Southern Counties East side Tunbridge Wells.

The midfielder played for the Chats at Barkingside on Monday night and told manager Kevin Watson it would be his last game for the club.

Watson said: "They put in an approach and he’s decided to go.

"Brad’s been a loyal servant to the club and he’s done well while he’s been with us. If the circumstances are right for him to move on, so be it.

"In the nicest respect, the club carries on.

"It’s a level down that he’s going to, which may suit him at this stage.

"I don’t want to sound over-negative because I like Brad as a player and as a person but I’ve said all along that if people want to leave the club, I’m only going to do so much to prevent them from going.

"I need people who are whole-hearted, who want to be here.

"You try to get players in, you try to turn people’s heads, but you only want people who want to play for you as a manager, who want to play for Chatham Town Football Club and who want to play with the other good players you’ve got there.

"I won’t hold anyone to ransom."

Chatham, 14th in Ryman League Division 1 North, are away to leaders Needham Market on Saturday.

Meanwhile, fifth-placed Tunbridge Wells host struggling Fisher in Southern Counties East.
