Premier League and Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot shines on cricket pitch for Frindsbury

A seven-wicket haul from Newcastle United’s Premier League goalkeeper Rob Elliot helped Frindsbury to a 128-run win over Hollingbourne.
The St Mary’s Island-based footballer claimed his best-ever figures of 7-24 as Frindsbury claimed their first Kent Regional League, Championship East win of the season.
Elliot is back south for the summer, as the football season takes a break, and his pace bowling proved to hot for Hollingbourne to handle.
Frindsbury made 178-7 off their 46 overs, before Elliot and Chris Mumford (2-21) single-handedly did the business with the ball as Hollingbourne were skittled for just 50.
Skipper Sam Dudgeon was delighted to see Elliot wreak havoc.
He said: “We’ve only got him for another month or so and on Saturday he took four wickets in one over.
“He’s great to have around the place, he sponsors the club and the young lads learn so much from him."
