Former Gillingham midfielder Luke Rooney has joined Chatham Town ahead of the new season.

Rooney, who featured for Welling and Beckenham last year, featured for Chats in their 2-2 draw with a Millwall under-23s side on Tuesday night.

After Dan Bradshaw had given Chatham an early lead, Millwall scored in either half before substitute Moses Abioye equalised from 25 yards with four minutes left.

Goals from Sam Hasler, Dave Smith and a Trialist helped Folkestone to a 3-0 victory at Herne Bay.

Kennington warmed up for their FA Cup debut next Tuesday with a 3-0 home victory over a Gillingham under-23s side. Gary Clarke scored twice, including a penalty, with a further spot-kick by Gary Lockyer completing a 100 per cent pre-season for Kennington.

Jack Midson scored twice as Sheppey ran out 3-1 winners at Ramsgate, who replied through Ryan Johnson.
