Medway Park hosting Wheelchair Rugby League Super League Grand Final between Leeds Rhinos and Leyland Warriors
06:00, 17 September 2021
Medway Park once again plays host to some of the biggest names in wheelchair rugby on Sunday.
The Sky Sports cameras will also be broadcasting live for the Wheelchair Rugby League Super League Grand Final between treble-chasing Leeds Rhinos and Leyland Warriors.
The Rhinos will have extra incentive after losing to Halifax Panthers at Medway Park in 2019.
There’s local involvement, too, with players from Medway Dragons having the honour of serving as pre-match mascots. Gates open at 2pm and the action starts at 3pm.
Tickets will be available on the door, subject to availability. Entry is £5 adults, £2 children or £12 for a family ticket of two adults and up to four children. Carers go free.
Tickets can also be reserved by emailing medwaysport@medway.gov.uk
Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for community services, said: “I am pleased that the Wheelchair Rugby League Super League Grand Final will be held, and broadcast, from Medway Park.
“Medway has excellent sporting facilities and Medway Park is proud to be the home of England Wheelchair Rugby League.
"I would encourage residents to take up the opportunity to watch this exciting final, which is being held on their doorstep.
“Hosting the final supports Medway’s aspiration to become UK City of Culture in 2025 as well as supporting our child-friendly city agenda.”
Ralph Rimmer, chief executive of the Rugby Football League, said: “Wheelchair Rugby League is a thrilling spectacle in the flesh and perfect for television.
"It’s fantastic that Sky Sports will be showcasing the Grand Final to a wider audience.”
