News from Medway & Maidstone AC in the England Athletics licensed open meetings, Swale Combined AC and the Dover Road Runners

Medway & Maidstone AC athletes were out in force again in Bromley for the recent England Athletics licensed open meeting.

In the 100m races Cameron Isaac ran a big new pb of 12.77 in the under-15 boys’ race, with Stanley Cook also running a pb, this time of 13.68.

In the girls’ races, Rebecca Akinsanya (u15) recorded a new pb of 13.15 alongside Princess Asemota's 13.56 and Emily Moyles' 13.80.

At under-17, there was a pb of 14.00 for Annaleise Kerswill and a season’s best for Mia Franklin of 14.15.

Jasmine Mark was the sole M&M under-13 in action with a pb of 14.43.

Lucy Hope recorded a new pb in the u23 ladies 400m with 60.49 alongside Josephine Bassett who set her second pb in four days over 300m of 42.76.

Also in action over 300m were Evie Cameron (45.70 PB), Ruby Towler (49.03 PB), Bernie Harrop (53.02) and Ciara Harrop (55.69).

The earlier meeting at Lee Valley saw Andre Wright compete in the 200m for his first race of the shortened season with a time of 22.78 while Charlotte Young recorded a season’s best of 2:17.68 in the under-20 women's 800m. Her younger sister Annabel recorded a new pb of 2:28.20 in the under 17 women's race.

Josephine Bassett set a pb of 43.97 in the under-15 girls’ 300m and Reece Perkins completed the M&M contingent, throwing a personal best in the under-20 men's hammer of 44.36m.

Harry Osborne was star of the show in Worthing, recording a big new personal best over 100m of 10.97 to win the A race.

He was ably supported by a new personal best of 11.30 for Dylan Purton in the under-17 men's race, as well as new personal bests for Charlotte de la Porte Godden of 13.05 and Abi Walters of 13.06. As well as 100m races there were races over 400m, with Finn Rodgers just outside his pb with a 54.35 clocking in the under 17 men's race. Conor Murphy was also in action running 49.58 in the under 20 men's race. It was Conor's one and only race in 2020, before jetting off to take up a track scholarship in the US.

Swale Combined AC’s Harrison Patching-Scott set two personal bests and club records in both the 100m and 200m at the Canterbury Track Athletics Open.

The under-17 athlete was one of two competing from the club. He finished second in the 100m heat in a wind assisted time of 11.80secs, improving his best by a massive 0.35secs.

That was shortly followed by more success in the 200m, where he again massively improved on his best to break his own club record set last year of 25.0secs, with a time of 24.35secs.

Amelia Williams also raced for the first time this summer in the 100m and finished fourth in her heat with a time of 14.03secs.

Mike Farrell, meanwhile, competed at Hexham in the M55 discus in his first event of the year, throwing 25.99m.

Two Dover Road Runners travelled to Gravesend’s Cyclopark to take part in the Saxons, Vikings and Normans six-hour challenge.

The multi lap course consisted of 3.28 mile laps. Gary Barnes completed a total of 50km (31.1 miles) in 5hrs 12.17mins and Michele Barnes completed a marathon distance of 26.2 miles in a time of 5.13.50.
