A fortnight ago I joined a team in the bottom four of League 1 – but it didn’t feel like they were struggling.

I could tell in the first training session, with the way the lads were passing it around, they were playing with confidence.

It just needed that turn of results and that turn of luck.

Since joining, we had a rollercoaster win over Leyton Orient, in my first game, which I’m not going to forget for a long time and a draw at Bradford last Saturday.

Both games I’ve been involved in have had exciting endings and that just shows the passion of the lads and desire to get points.

I have enjoyed my first two weeks here. I’m getting back to full fitness and every minute on the pitch is valuable. I want to get back to the top of my sharpness and that is where I am getting to at the moment.

Saturday's opponents Port Vale have some decent wingers but I prefer to concentrate on my own game.

If I am sharp on the day, I like to have competition with any winger. My last game for Brighton was against Tottenham and I was up against Andros Townsend, Erik Lamela and Aaron Lennon.

But if you worry about who you’re facing too much, you don’t do as much as you want to impose your game on them.

I just train to prepare myself right and then go into the game with a positive mind.
We lost the game against Tottenham but I did all right. Those challenges against top players can only improve you.

*Despite what you might read on Wikipedia, I definitely have no Philippine roots! I don’t know where that came from.

My mum is English and my dad has African Zimbabwe and Chinese in him. I don’t care what people put on Wikipedia, though. They can say I am from Germany if they want to!

It’s a great mix and it’s given me a bit of a choice internationally as well, should that happen, but at the moment I am just concentrating on my club football.
