The Shouting Men column with Gillingham striker Rhys Murphy
00:00, 09 February 2018
Signing for the Gills has given me the chance to get my career back on track.
I am thankful for the opportunity and hopefully I will take it with both hands.
I have had a tricky 12 months, prior to joining Gillingham, so for me to get back into the Football League, in League 1, was a great opportunity.
I was starting to wonder where my career was going but this is a chance to revive it.
I had cancelled my contract at Forest Green and the Gillingham manager messaged me, asking if I want to come and train. I told him I would love to.
When the news went public that I was a free agent, it was nice to have a few messages on the phone, it made me feel that at least I would have a job.
I had a short trial here and from day one everyone has made me feel welcome.
Thankfully the manager has given me a contract to the end of the season and now it is about getting my head down, working as hard as I can and hopefully taking the chance when it comes.
