The gaffer and the staff have come in with a fresh approach and it is working.
Our fitness shone through on Saturday. We have got a fit group of lads and players who get through a lot of mileage.
We’ve been putting in a lot of hard work with Neil Withington (the fitness coach) in the gym. We do try and run the other way when we see Neil but he is a good lad!
It has been a lot different but the lads have taken to it well and we will benefit from it in the long run.
I base my game on being busy and run around and work my socks off. Hopefully, the other qualities then shine through but first and foremost you need to work hard.
You can have a bad game but it’s important you work hard. If you have a bad game and you’re not working hard, it doesn’t look good.
I have always based my game on working hard and running around the pitch but by doing it in the right way and not just running for the sake of it.
Tuesday’s game against AFC Wimbledon wasn’t to be, after being postponed but we’re looking forward to Shrewsbury on Saturday. We have to go looking for the three points, especially at home.
It would be nice to get on the scoresheet at Priestfield. Scoring in front of your home fans is something I haven’t managed to do yet. My two goals have been away.
I have scored at Priestfield before but need to do it for Gillingham now. It is one of the best feelings in football.
When I signed here, I wanted to come and get promoted. We have a great squad and group of lads and it hasn’t worked out at the moment but hopefully positive results are around the corner.
