Gillingham have never won a Football League game at Portsmouth's Fratton Park
00:00, 09 March 2018
Gillingham will need to claim their first win at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park to keep alive any lingering hopes of a play-off spot.
Gills are seven points adrift of the top six but games are running out, with just 11 left.
Portsmouth are three points better off than Gillingham in the League 1 table.
Gills boss Steve Lovell said: “It should be a good crowd, a good atmosphere and both of us are in a position where our
season could go one way or another. The game will be hotly disputed. It’s a good challenge and after having last week off, we can’t wait to get back into it again.
“We have always said March would be a massive month. We have some tough games, this being one of them, but as we have shown before, we can do it. We are good enough on our day.
“I am sure that if we give it our best, we will give Portsmouth a good run for their money.”
Gills haven’t had any success at Portsmouth in 15 attempts but Lovell has already rewritten the history books this season with a first-ever win at Charlton.
He said: “We will go with a positive attitude and have a right good go.
“Everyone is enjoying the football at the moment and we will approach it like all the away games this year.
“We need to make sure we start in the right way, like we have done for the majority of away games."
