Gillingham are sweating on injuries to two of their strikers ahead of a home double header.

The Gills welcome Scunthorpe to Priestfield on Tuesday before hosting Southend this Saturday – and the League 1 leaders could be without half of their strikeforce.

Luke Norris went off injured in the 1-0 win at Crewe on Saturday and fellow front-man Cody McDonald ended the game struggling with a kick to the bottom of his foot.

Norris will be scanned but boss Justin Edinburgh isn't confident of a quick return. The forward left Gresty Road on crutches with his foot in a protective air boot.

“We will have to get that scanned on Monday but it doesn’t look too good,” said Edinburgh.

“Hopefully it’s not long-term but I feel he is going to be weeks rather than days.”

On McDonald’s fitness, Edinburgh added: “When he went to close a lad down he got a kick to the bottom of his foot. There isn’t a lot of muscle there and he took a bit of a whack. Hopefully he will be all right.”

Gills will defintely be without defender Ryan Jackson against Scunthorpe. The right-back returned from injury as a second-half substitute at Crewe but picked up a fifth booking, meaning he serves an automatic one-game ban.

Captain Doug Loft (Achilles) and Adedeji Oshilaja (knee) are also unavailable.
