Peter Taylor believes his Gillingham squad have plenty more to offer.

After 10 games of the campaign, his young side sit mid-table in League 1.

Their start to the season has pleased the Gills manager but he knows they can do more.

He said: “I have been pleased with the squad. We would have liked to have done a bit better but I still think we are a team that are going to get better.

“We are progressing but after we got the win here (at Priestfield) against Peterborough, I was hoping we were going to get more than one point from the next two games. I am a touch disappointed with that but it is a long season.

“Over the season we will get better and hopefully our injuries clear up and we are not so unlucky that we lose important players. At the moment I am relaxed with the squad and we are improving.

“There are certain games where we look back and will say, ‘well that wasn’t good enough’ but we can improve it here or there.

“All of them (the players) are starting to improve. We will improve as a team. It doesn’t mean that it will happen Saturday (away at Notts County) but we will definitely improve as a team.”
