The Shouting Men: Gillingham defender Kortney Hause writes exclusively for the KM Group

00:01, 19 September 2014

We were all buzzing after Tuesday’s win. It was a good team performance and it’s good to get three points against a team that are flying high.

Our home form is good at the moment, with a good few victories here at Priestfield, so hopefully we can keep that going on Saturday.

I am enjoying playing alongside John Egan in the centre of defence. We are both young and can both relate to each other and we are quite similar.

We have a good relationship on and off the field. He’s a nice guy and so laid back! He’s cool and calm and we both have the same ambitions. We both want to do well, kick on and achieve big things.

It was disappointing to concede the goal against Peterborough but there wasn’t a lot we could do about it. Those sorts of goals are horrible for defenders to concede.

Obviously we are there to try and keep a clean sheet and when a goal like that goes in it can be disheartening but we quickly put it behind us. It was nobody’s fault. We kicked on and ended up winning the game.

I’m here on loan at Gillingham but whenever you play, you want to do your best for the team and do the best for yourself. Hopefully I can play well down here and go back to Wolves and do well there.

It was important when I moved out on loan that I moved to a club that would help my game and at Gillingham we try and play it out from the back. What I am doing here should hold me in good stead for the future.

It’s noticeable that everyone here is hungry to succeed and we believe that we can achieve things. The gaffer keeps on top of the boys and makes sure we stay hungry and that we don’t get complacent when we do well.
