The weekend off gave me a chance to see my old club Cliftonville in action.
Sadly, my brother Jay wasn’t able to play, as he picked up a slight injury a few days before but I got a great welcome there.
My dad set a little bet at the start of the season over which one of us would score the most. It means there is some competition there now and Jay has two more than me.
I have gone a few games without a goal but that’s the way it goes sometimes and I just need one to go in off my backside or something.
A lot of people judge strikers solely on their goals but luckily the manager here doesn’t see just that. He looks at your work-rate and your performance for the team. If you are doing well for the side and the team are doing well, then the goals will come.
Quite a few of us managed to get away and it was nice getting home to see my family and friends. The boys needed a few days’ rest but we’ve all come back refreshed and ready to go again.
Cliftonville is my home team and they play literally down the street from my family home over there. It is a nice club and I went to their Christmas dinner last Saturday night.
My brother is a top player. He used to be at the Manchester United school of excellence and has played for Northern Ireland in the youth section.
A few teams have shown interest in him across the water but he needs to knuckle down and do his best this season.
He is on eight goals now so I need to start scoring again!
