Gills new signing Scott Wagstaff will miss the start of the season.
The former Charlton and Bristol City midfielder picked up an injury at Billericay.
Wagstaff was only on the field for eight minutes when he limped off.
Edinburgh confirmed that the 26-year-old will be sidelined for a couple more weeks, with a strain to his calf muscle.
He said: “I don’t think he will make the start of the season but it wasn’t as bad as we first feared.
“We could see him back a week or two after the start of the season.”
It’s a further blow to the Gills boss, who has been hampered by injuries in his defensive department earlier in pre-season.
Bradley Garmson suffered a dislocated knee cap and revealed on twitter this week that he is still “six to eight” weeks away from returning and has yet to find out whether he needs surgery.
There is still no news on the timescale of Aaron Morris’ knee injury. A specialist appointment is now set to take place in the middle of next week.
Deji Oshilaja will be back soon, however, with the club expecting him to play a part in the game at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
