Gillingham forward Elliott List rues linesman's flag after he was denied first ever League goal

Young forward Elliott List was gutted to have had a goal ruled out on Saturday.
List felt he had beaten the offside trap to head home Luke O’Neill’s cross in stoppage time at Wigan.
It would have been List’s first goal in the Football League.
Gillingham might even have had time to find an equaliser, had List’s goal stood, but it wasn’t to be, after the linesman ruled it out for offside.
“I thought I was on,” said 20-year-old List, who had peeled off the defender to head home the right-sided cross.
“I was pretty certain and I was angry at the time. I wasn’t happy to say the least.
“It would have been my first goal in league football and it would have helped my confidence. I’ll keep going and when it comes, it comes.
“It would mean so much to get that first goal but it will come.”
List has come close to scoring on several occasions already and won’t be stressing over the disallowed goal.
“It’s done,” he said. “I can’t affect it now, I haven’t watched it back and I will be really gutted if I am onside. I believed I was, but it is what it is.”
The Gills were big outsiders to get a result at Wigan but List was still disappointed they didn’t get anything.
He said: “Everyone is obviously disappointed, we don’t want to lose any game, but I think Wigan showed how good they are and why they are top.
“We weren’t at the standard we wanted to be but it happened against a great side and we can hold our heads high and move onto the next game.”
The Gills lost ground on the top six but the play-off dream certainly isn’t over – they trail sixth-placed Bradford by eight points.
List said: “I am a positive person, why not dream? You want to look up, you don’t want to settle for mid-table, you want to try and push as much as you can and that is what we want to be doing.”
