Gillingham are waiting for an answer from Charlton after requesting an extension to Harry Lennon’s loan deal.

Central defender Lennon impressed during his initial month with the Gills and boss Justin Edinburgh wants to keep hold of the 20-year-old for a little while longer.

He played his last game of the initial loan deal on Saturday.

What could complicate matters is Charlton’s change in management since Lennon first moved to Priestfield.

Championship strugglers Charlton recently sacked head coach Guy Luzon and replaced him with interim boss Karel Fraeye.

Edinburgh, speaking on Tuesday, said: “We are in dialogue and we are hopeful that something could happen but he is not our player.

“Changing manager might change things, as could how well he has done, but we are hopeful. We want him but it’s not our call.”

The Gills, meanwhile, are still hopeful that Cardiff centre-back Deji Oshilaja will be fit for next week’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash against Yeovil. He returned to training at Gillingham on Monday after two months out injured.
