Former Chatham manager and one-time Gills target Scott Lindsey has rattled some fans in League 2 with a bold claim this week.

Lindsey left League 1 Crawley Town a month ago, dropping a division to take over as head coach at MK Dons, who had been struggling since the start of the season.

Since taking charge, MK have lost just once in his six games, at home to current leaders Port Vale and following a win over Morecambe the 52-year-old declared: “We're MK Dons - I think we're the biggest club in the division.

“I've spoken a lot since I came in about having a winning mentality and a ruthless streak, to tread all over teams. I want that.”

Lindsey had said when taking over at Stadium MK that “I think it's clear to everyone just how much potential there is at MK Dons, and I'm thrilled to be joining to help achieve it.”

League 2 table

The ‘biggest club in League 2’ claim was backed up by MK Dons player Joe Tomlinson after their midweek win over Accrington.

“He’s completely right,” said the former Peterborough player, who a while back was on Gillingham’s radar.

“We’re the biggest club in the league. We’re at the biggest club probably in the league above.

“There is so much potential here. We shouldn’t be where we are now. We need to show where we should be.”

Following the midweek action just a point separated Gillingham, in 11th, and MK Dons one place worse off in 12th.

The Gills are hoping to bounce back from five straight losses this Saturday when they travel to Swindon Town.
