Midfielder Bradley Dack says Gillingham will not get carried away

00:01, 19 September 2014

Gillingham midfielder Bradley Dack insists it’s too early to be looking at the League 1 table.

His team rose to 10th place on Tuesday night after beating promotion-chasers Peterborough 2-1 at Priestfield.

At the same stage last season the Gills were still searching for their first win and were rock bottom of the division.

He said: “It is a little too early to be looking, maybe when you get to February or March time, you might see where you are then. I guessed we were around 10th and if we can get another three points on Saturday, then it’s looking good.

“Hopefully, we can just keep climbing the table and see where it takes us. We’ve got a young side and there is no pressure on us, so we will just keep doing what we’re doing. We are definitely progressing and the start we had this year is better than last.”

Dack, 20, is one of several young players in the Gills team this season.

He said: “With young players, we are going to get better and everyone wants to get better. It is a good feeling to have around the squad and we also have the old heads.

“With the likes of Danny Kedwell, Cody McDonald and Doug Loft, it is a good mix. If we keep playing like this at home, we should have a good season.”

Maintaining that home form is something Dack hopes they can do on Saturday against Walsall.

He said: “It is important to make this place almost like a fortress. Teams don’t want to come here and that’s a good thing."

*Former Gills player Micky Adams has quit as manager of Port Vale. The 52-year-old, who spent four years at Gillingham between 1979 and 1983, saw his side lose six games on the bounce in League 1.
