Midfielder Josh Wright is set to be offered a new deal by the Gills.
The 25-year-old has been on a short-term contract with the club since the start of the season.
Since then he has featured in every game and has started the last five.
Wright was signed as cover for a number of injured midfielders, including captain Doug Loft, and despite their return manager Justin Edinburgh wants him to stay.
“We want to extend Josh’s time at the club,” said Edinburgh. “We will sit down this week and discuss that, and hopefully that will be concluded.”
Wright’s performances for the team have delighted Edinburgh, who added: “I thought he has been excellent.
“He came in with only a week’s training and half a game, but he has played a lot of minutes and he has been a calming influence on a young group.”
