A Kent events management professional is urging more businesses to become corporate supporters of the KM Charity Team after spending six months working with the organisation.
Blessing Enakimio, who owns events business Blessing by Blé as well as Blé Couture Cakes, said: “It’s a very positive way of giving something back if you’re looking to support a charitable organisation.”
The Ashford-based entrepreneur added that her partnership with the KM Charity Team had had a significantly positive impact on the profile of her businesses.
She said: “The KM Charity Team is well-known and spreading its wings outside of Kent. It’s a highly reputable charity, and you get to meet lots of other businesses.”
And, as far as the KM Charity Team is concerned, the respect is entirely mutual.
Team manager Karen Brinkman said: “Having Blessing on board has been like winning the lottery. She’s brought enthusiasm, flair and a huge amount of expert knowledge and experience to the events she has worked on.
“I cannot overstate just how grateful and glad we are to have her working with us. And we hope she will continue to do so long into the future.”
Mrs Enakimio first got involved with the KM Charity Team by helping with the management of its Green School Awards at Kent Cricket Club’s St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury in February.
Since then, she has gone on to help with the Partnership Awards for KM Charity Team supporters, the Kent Teacher Awards and the Kent Literacy Awards.
Looking to the future, Mrs Enakimio said she hoped to continue working with the KM Charity Team in her current capacity but also to help out with other initiatives. Given her experience with Blé Couture Cakes, she said she was particularly interested in helping out with Buster’s Bake-Off.
Mrs Enakimio first became aware of the KM Charity Team through being an advertiser with the KM Group, and then learned more about the organisation through social media.
She said the team’s educational focus chimed with her background as a teacher, working in adult education with a focus on virtual learning.
“My background was in teaching, so I was intrigued by what they did,” she said. “I was also looking for a charity to support.
“My main aim was to support the organisation in any way that I could, and the second thing was I was hoping to network with other companies.”
After six months of a mutually profitable partnership both those goals have been achieved in convincing fashion.
Businesses interested in supporting the KM Charity Team’s work can get involved in activities such as awards events, the reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club and the charity's Walk to School campaign.
