Specsavers staff helped encourage shoppers in nine Kent towns to sign up to take part in the KM Colour Run.

The annual event challenges adults and children to take on a 5km course while being covered in coloured corn starch powder paint along the route.

Runners take part raising sponsorship for any charity or good cause they choose, with a small slice of the funds going towards children’s literacy projects in the county.

The roadshow was organised by the KM Charity Team and visited nine Specsavers stores to promote involvement to shoppers and families. The roadshow visited Ashford, Canterbury, Chatham, Dover, Folkestone, Gravesend, Maidstone, Ramsgate and Sittingbourne.

David Cavender, director of the Folkestone Specsavers branch, said: “We are so proud to sponsor the KM Colour Run. It is just such a fun event to be a part of.”

Molly Salter, of Specsavers Ashford, said: “The colour run is fun for all the family. We are really glad to be a partner in the event and very much looking forward to plastering everyone in coloured powder paint.”

Andy Mace, manager of Specsavers Ramsgate, said: “This is a great event for all the family. It’s a 5km run and every kilometer there is a colour station to cover runners head to foot in coloured powder paint. It’s a great day out raising funds for some great charities in the area.”

Lorna Mote, Specsavers Canterbury, said: “If you have a charity you are passionate about why don’t you take part in the KM Colour Run.”
