The KM Big Bike Ride has become a high point in the annual cycling calendar, known for its mix of challenge, charity and ease of navigation. The sportive is unusual because of its double signage making it virtually impossible for riders to take a wrong turn. Every year the event raises thousands of pounds for charitable causes.

Taking place on Sunday, April 23 2017, riders have the option of a 50K or 100K circuit depending on how far they want to push themselves.

Sportive expert Andy Croucher from Locks Cycles, said: “This is the third year we’ve helped the KM Big Bike Ride with the route signage. What makes this ride different from other sportive events is that it’s a full on charity event, not a money making business as some are nowadays. We are using the same routes as last year, starting at Betteshanger Country Park, straight into the South East countryside. The 100K route also takes in the Thanet coastline, which is very pretty. We are also manning the backup vehicle on the day, but hopefully none of you cyclists out there are going to need us.”

All riders will receive a limited edition medal upon completion. Sportive photographs are also available to all. Refuelling stations will be located throughout both rides for those requiring additional drink and sustenance.

Simon Dolby of the KM Charity Team, said: “We're really proud of the event's ongoing success, which is partly down to our unique double signage system meaning it's almost inconceivable that anyone gets lost en route. Last year, an impressive £17,000 was raised by 370 cyclists. This year, we're hoping for an even bigger turnout and fundraising total, so get involved and ride for charity or just for fun."

The KM Big Bike Ride is open to all, but children aged 12 – 17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
