Help good causes at 21st North Downs Charity Walk
13:57, 31 May 2006
PEOPLE are being invited to enter the 21st annual North Downs Charity Walk to raise funds for good causes.
Almost £300,000 has been raised for local and national charities by the event, which is organised by the Rotary Club of the Weald of Kent.
Thousands of walkers of all ages have participated in the annual walk since it was launched in 1985.
This year's event is on Sunday, June 25. Walkers can choose between a five or 10 mile course.
They can also choose to keep 50 per cent of their sponsorship for a cause of their choice and donate the other half to Rotary's charities. The main beneficiary will be Cancer Research UK.
Last year's event enabled the club to fund the building of a house in Sri Lanka for tsunami orphans, provide a bed at a specialist unit for The Teenage Cancer Trust, donate £5,826 to the Maidstone branch of Cancer Resarch UK and support several other local individuals or organisations.
Enter the 21st walk now by using the registration form on this page. Find out more by visiting www.wealdofkentrotary.org.uk.
