Chatham has scored an amazing double in the Kent Air Ambulance superdraw.

When the £25,000 lottery draw was launched in October last year, the first winner was Chatham resident Daphne Hanson.

Now the second winner is Larraine Brookes, of Upper Luton Road.

Mrs Brookes was picked up from her home and taken to the helicopter’s headquarters in Marden, near Maidstone, to collect her cheque.

She said: “I couldn’t believe my ears when I received the call to say I had won. The air ambulance does a wonderful job – it’s the only charity I support. It has been great to be able to see the helicopter at close quarters and meet the crew.”

The KAA superdraw runs alongside its weekly lottery. It is drawn on a weekly basis but, if a winning ticket is not picked, it rolls over to the following week.

Just to underline Chatham’s luck, last week’s weekly lottery draw of £1,000 was won by a man who also lives in Upper Luton Road.
