14:01, 11 December 2006
MEMBERS of the Maidstone Neighbourhood Watch Association have helped to make Christmas a happier time for many needy families in the area.
An official presentation has been made by the association to the Kent County Council Family Support Unit. Toys and other gifts were collected following appeals to Maidstone businesses and residents.
A spokesperson from Neighbourhood Watch said: "We want to say a huge thank you to all those involved in this extremely worthwhile project, in particular the people and retailers of Maidstone for their donations and also town hall staff who helped us collect them all.
"The hundreds of toys that were received will now be distributed among low income and needy families in the area to ensure they have a happy Christmas and festive season.”
