Runners put charity in the pink
00:00, 08 January 2009
Madcap runners worked off their Christmas calories on New Year’s Day for the annual charity Bra Run.
It was a chance to dress up and there was a collection of crazy costumes and people of all ages in a variety of colourful wigs and outfits.
There were city gents, pirates and even a penguin, all raising money for Breast Cancer Care.
Bras were worn with pride, mainly over the outfits, and 260 walkers and runners took part in the Deal Tri event, which started at Deal Castle and covered a 5km seafront course.
Deal Tri members Sally Scoggins and her husband David organised the event which raised more than £2,500.
Mrs Scoggins said: “This was the fifth running of the event and the total raised is now over £17,500."
The race was won by Alex Newson from Folkestone Running Club finishing in a time of 17mins and 7 secs.
First female home was Jill Cliff from Deal Tri in a time of 18mins 36 secs.
