A HUGE pile of bacon butties greeted charity fund-raisers at the end of the annual Kenwood Trust sponsored walk held in the Yalding area.

About 60 people from as far away as Worthing and Gravesend set off on foot from the charity's head office in Yalding for a four-mile sponsored stroll.

The Bacon Sandwich Walk raised more than £400 for the Christian charity that helps people with drug, alcohol and homelessness problems and educates children and young people about drugs.

The charity's head of fund-raising, Tony Williams, said: "We were all very pleased with the event. It was good weather for walking and everyone enjoyed their bacon sandwiches when they got back."

Some of the money will be used to help refurbish an old Kent County Council mobile library lorry the charity bought to take its drug education work out on the road and into the local communities.
