Stars turn out to support children's charity

COMICS Brian Conley and Bradley Walsh and EastEnders star Shaun Williamson from were among the celebrities at a charity ball held at the Ramada Hotel and Resort at Hollingbourne, near Maidstone. They joined nearly 190 people at a dinner-dance to help raise money for the Dave Lee's Happy Holidays - a charity set up by the comedian seven years ago to send underprivileged, disabled and sick children in Kent on holidays and outings.
Music was provided by the eight-piece band Star and Roger De Courcey and Nookie Bear provided the cabaret.
During the evening there was an auction of items including a football signed by Manchester United players and an Arsenal shirt signed by the Gunners. They were sold for £1,500 and £800 respectively.
VIPs supporting the event also included former Kent and England cricketer Dean Headley, Gillingham FC player-manager Andy Hessenthaler and the club's chairman Paul Scally,
The event, which was run by the Sevenoaks branch of the charity, is expected to have raised between £9,000 and £10,000. Kevin Aylward, who runs the branch, said: "I think everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening for a very worthwhile cause."
