Will quiz be the biggest ever?

10:14, 07 October 2008

The Big Quiz is coming back to Maidstone and this year the Kent Messenger wants it to be the biggest yet.

The Big Quiz 2008 will be held at Maidstone Leisure Centre, in Mote Park, from 7pm on Friday, November 14. Tickets are on sale now.

Proceeds raised on the night will be divided between the Heart of Kent Hospice, the Kent Walking Bus, Children In Need and the Mayor of Maidstone’s charity fund.

The cost for a table of eight people is £56, which is £7 per person and includes a ploughman’s meal and a complimentary glass of wine.

Teams can receive a discount if they book early online at the Big Quiz website.

Last year’s quiz attracted a record 67 teams for the county town’s event and organisers are keen to match that.

Simon Dolby, the Kent Messenger’s community and charity projects’ manager and chairman of the Walking Bus charity, will be questionmaster at the charity event.

He said: “Questions will be carefully selected to ensure everyone enjoys themselves.”

The event is sponsored by Maidstone Leisure Centre, which is providing the venue for free, Fremlin Walk and P&O Ferries, which will give the winning team a free trip to France for up to nine people in a car. Shepherd Neame will organise the charity Spitfire bar.

The top teams from the evening will be invited to a county final, expected to be held in December.

A shield will be presented to the best team of public servants, from the NHS or local government. Tickets are expected to sell out fast so book early using a credit or debit card at www.kmbigquiz.co.uk

To have a quiz round named after your business or organisation costs a minimum of £100 in sponsorship. Phone Mr Dolby on 07989 164752.
