New 295 home development, The Mill at Springfield, incorporates the history of a former paper mill
06:00, 04 January 2021
History is at the heart of a new development built on the site of a former paper mill.
The new 295-home community, The Mill at Springfield in Maidstone, by housebuilder Redrow, is set on the site of the former Whatman Paper Mill in Maidstone, with the site’s historic past incorporated into the scheme.
The mill’s iconic Grade II listed chimney, Rag Room and listed beam are all retained and restored, while the new homes, from Redrow's Regent collection, reflect the brick exteriors of the existing buildings.
The site in James Whatman Way is in walking distance of the town centre.
The four-bedroom townhouse the Fitzroy has a balcony off the first-floor lounge while the ground floor family and dining area opens out into the garden through French doors. The principal bedroom and second bedroom both come with en-suite bathrooms, with two further bedrooms sharing the family bathroom, and there is also an integral garage and separate laundry cupboard on the ground floor.
The Wilmington is set across two and a half storeys, with a generous lounge opening out into the garden at the rear, while there are three bedrooms on the first floor and a principal bedroom spanning the top floor with an en-suite bathroom, space for fitted wardrobes and additional storage.
Stuart Galloway, area sales manager at Redrow South East, said: “The homes are located in such an idyllic location on the banks of the River Medway. Maidstone is a great spot to buy with lots of excellent schools, shops nearby and fantastic commuter links.”
Redrow’s sales centres are open seven days a week and appointments can be booked online, by phone or walk-ins are also welcome.
Prices of properties available start at £409,995 for three and four-bedroom homes with Help to Buy available. For further information visit redrow.co.uk/themillatspringfield or call 01622 528373.
