Luxury modern new homes created from the Engine Sheds near Sandwich by Quinn Homes retain their history
06:00, 18 January 2021
Soaring ceilings and high walls of brickwork are just two of the stand-out features at a collection of sparkling new homes created from a former warehouse that has a place in Kentish history.
The Engine Sheds at Hammill Park, Woodnesborough, are now 10 new luxury modern homes that have been converted from an old brickworks.
The development by Quinn Homes, just three miles from Sandwich and 16 miles from Canterbury, has brought the site back to life in stunning fashion.
The site was acquired by the owners of Betteshanger Colliery in 1923, who kept the mineral rights but sold the buildings on to the Hammill Brick Company a few years later. During peak production almost 180,000 bricks
were being produced a week, many of which were laid on the streets of Paris and can still be seen today.
Light and space feature prominently in the cutting edge design of the revamped Engine Sheds, with oak floors, set against white walls emphasising the light through the tall, gallery windows.
The warehouse’s industrial past has been retained wherever possible and steel roof struts bring character and heritage to each house.
Each home is peppered with careful finishing touches and details, from the contemporary, English-made kitchens and high quality porcelain tiles fitted in the kitchen and hallway areas to the recessed down lighters, and chrome light switches, sockets and telephone points. Each home comes with a 10-year warranty.
With 25 years experience, Quinn Homes aims to fund local projects and provide new facilities in its communities, while each new home is built to exacting standards and signed off by a company director.
Prices start at £350,000. For further information and to book a viewing, call 01304 361420, email deal@wardsofkent.co.uk or visit quinn-homes.com
