Get on track with Michelin's clinic
03:26, 29 August 2001
MICHELIN'S Truck Tyre Clinic is on its way to Kent. In association with the Eurotunnel Truck Stop at Ashford, on the M20, Michelin will hold two major roadshow events next month - on September 12/13 and again on September 26/27.
Up to 700 vehicles a day visit the location and Michelin hopes to speak to many of the drivers who pass through the services during the month.
Where truckers pull up for fuel, food or rest, it is quite likely that they will also be able to have one of Michelin's expert road staff inspect their vehicle's tyres and collect advice on pressures and fitments. Drivers are invited to enter competitions with prizes ranging from Bibendum T-shirts to a weekend for two in Amsterdam.
Ben Smail, Eurotunnel business development manager, said: "Our philosophy is to provide every possible service to take care of our drivers who work long hours moving goods across Europe. Working with Michelin to bring expert tyre advice is another service for Eurotunnel customers."
Marketing priority will be given to the new Energy A2 tyres that are designed specifically for international haulage operations. These are setting new standards of up to 35 per cent additional mileage and six per cent fuel savings. The Euro Assist breakdown programme will also be of particular interest to drivers requiring a swift, fixed price tyre related service in any one of the 17 participating European countries.
Michelin will have a mobile display unit located in the truck-park, staffed by multilingual members of the truck road staff.
